Jude Mukoro was ordained by Bishop Stephen in St Andrew’s Cathedral, Dundee, on Saturday 14th December 2019.
Fr Jude Mukoro is the youngest of seven children. He was born on the 9th of October 1990, in Nigeria. After his primary school education, he attended the Holy Martyrs of Uganda Minor Seminary Delta State Nigeria for six years. Thereafter, in 2010 he began studies at the University of Leuven, Belgium. Within six years, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology and Religious Science, a Bachelor in Sacred
Theology (STB), a Master’s Degree in Philosophy, a Master’s Degree in Society, Law and Religion, and completed a doctoral training program in Educational Sciences.
In 2016 he began formation for the Catholic Priesthood at Oscott College in Birmingham. During this period, he undertook pastoral placements at several parishes including Ss Peter and Paul’s, Dundee, St John the Baptist Perth, St John Vianney Coventry, Sacred Heart Camberwell, St Gerald’s Castle Vale and St Columba’s Cupar.
He was ordained deacon on the 29th of June, 2019 and appointed to St Columba’s Cupar. Currently, he is a PhD candidate (Social and Behavioural Sciences) and is training to be a counsellor and psychotherapist.
He enjoys a good story in all its forms (novels, documentaries, films etc). He loves music and looks forward to learning how to play the piano. Fr Jude is grateful to everyone who has supported him on his journey to the priesthood.
Bishop Stephen said, “We already have a few Nigerian priests who are now well-established in our diocese so there is a natural support network in place to help Jude. We will keep him in our prayers as he embarks on his priestly ministry.”
Following a visit to be with his family at Christmas, Fr Jude assist Fr Mark Cassidy at the Immaculate Conception, Lochee – also serving the parishes of Ss Leonard & Fergus, St Columba’s, Kirkton.
