Dundee’s much-loved Cecilian Choir will continue its year-long celebration marking Kevin Veal’s 50th year as Musical Director with a special concert this November. The event promises to be one of the highlights in a series of performances honouring Kevin’s remarkable half-century of musical leadership, inspiration, and dedication to choral excellence.

Under Kevin’s direction since 1975, the Cecilian Choir has grown into one of Scotland’s most respected mixed-voice ensembles, known for its rich sound, imaginative programming, and strong ties to the city’s cultural life. This celebratory concert will bring together past and present members in a programme reflecting the breadth of Kevin’s repertoire—from sacred masterworks to contemporary choral gems.

Speaking ahead of the event, Kevin Veal reflected on his five decades with the choir:

“The Cecilian Choir has been a constant joy in my life. What began as a small local group has blossomed into a community bound by music and friendship. I’m deeply grateful for the singers who have shared this journey and for the audiences who have supported us so warmly over the years.”

The choir has recently returned from a concert tour in Tuscany. The November concert will serve both as a tribute to Kevin’s musical vision and a testament to Dundee’s vibrant choral tradition.
