The Diocese of Dunkeld completed its Annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes from 15–22 July 2026, bringing together pilgrims from across the diocese under the spiritual leadership of Bishop Andrew McKenzie for a week of prayer, fellowship and renewal at the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes.
A central feature of this year’s pilgrimage was the care and companionship offered to the sick and frail pilgrims, who were supported throughout the week by dedicated members of the Dunkeld Lourdes Yellow T-Shirts, together with parishioners from across the Diocese and beyond. Their generosity, kindness and attentive service reflected the spirit of Lourdes, where prayer and practical charity go hand in hand.
The pilgrimage was enriched by the presence and ministry of the diocesan clergy, including Fr Alexander Obiorah, Fr Michael Ngobili, Fr Brian McLean (Pilgrimage Director), Mgr Aldo Angelosanto, Fr Eugene O’Sullivan and Fr Kenneth O’Brien who accompanied the pilgrims. Through the celebration of the Sacraments, preaching and pastoral care, they helped foster a spirit of faith and communion throughout the week.
Each day centred on the celebration of the Holy Mass in the various churches and chapels across the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. Pilgrims also participated in the rich programme of devotions that make Lourdes a place of profound spiritual encounter, including the Candlelight Marian Procession, the Holy Rosary, Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and the Way of the Cross.
These moments of communal prayer provided opportunities for pilgrims to deepen their faith, entrust their intentions to the intercession of Our Lady, and pray especially for the sick, their families, and the wider Diocese of Dunkeld.
Reflecting on the pilgrimage, Bishop Andrew McKenzie expressed his gratitude to everyone who made the week possible, particularly the volunteers, young people and clergy whose dedicated service ensured that all pilgrims, especially those who were sick or frail, were able to participate fully in the pilgrimage experience.
