Call to join a National Walk of the Cross

Press releases

Togeter with the other Bishops of Scotland, Bishop Andrew McKenzie invites parishes throughout the diocese to pick up their crosses and join a national Walk the Cross 2025 Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of September, 2025.

Day 1 – Saturday 13th September
Meet us on Saturday at St Andrew’s Cathedral, Glasgow at 8.30am for a 9am start. Walk with us along the Clyde Walkway to Uddingston train station where the first day’s walk ends.

(Before we meet up you can drive to Uddingston train station, park for free and take the train into Glasgow – every 15 mins – to join the start of the walk, picking up your car later at Uddingston).

Day 2 – Sunday 14th September
On Sunday, we’ll meet at Uddingston train station at 8:30am for a 9am start. We’ll walk from there to Carfin Grotto. Our walk will end with a Eucharistic Procession beginning 1.5 miles outside Carfin and continuing there from 3pm to 3:30pm. Refreshments will be available in the canteen.

Holy Mass will be celebrated at 4:15pm. All non-walkers are welcome to join us in Carfin. Anyone unable to join the whole 33km walk can join or leave at any part of the route. There is a train station in Carfin across from the Grotto for your return to Uddingston or onward journey.

We will walk 33km – one kilometre for each year that Jesus lived.

Let the Flame of Love spread onwards.

PLEASE NOTE:
