The centenary of St John Vianney’s, Alva was marked by a Mass of thanksgiving held in the church on the afternoon of 4th of August. The principal celebrant was Fr. Mike Freyne MHM, parish priest of St. John Vianney’s.
A Civic Reception was held in the Cochrane Hall, Alva after the Mass. The organising committee also produced a souvenir brochure to mark the occasion, which traced the history of the parish as well as recording the memories of individual parishioners and the commitment of their families to the life of the parish during the past 100 years.
