Clergy changes and appointments

Bishop Stephen Robson has announced the following clergy changes:

Fr Bogdan Palka SDS has been transferred from the parish of St John the Baptist in Perth to serve the parish community of St Mary Magdalene’s, Perth – from where he will also continue to serve the Polish Community. He will celebrate his first Mass on Sunday, 17th July, 2022.

Fr Jim Walls, who has been serving as Spiritual Director in the Pontifical Scots College, Rome, for the past four years, returns to Dunkeld Diocese. He will soon be appointed to a new parish, but for the moment he will help Canon Kevin in his three parishes, residing in the Cathedral.

Fr Ninian Doohan will be leaving the diocese for an initial period of one year, to join a new initiative in the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh, setting up an Oratory, with a community of secular priests living by a common rule and way of life. Fr Ninian will be departing as from the weekend of 9th/10th July, 2022 and a new parish priest will be appointed shortly to serve the parishes of St Pius X and St Patrick’s in Dundee.

Deacon Chris McCrosson, ordained on Saturday 28th May 2022, will serve as Deacon of the parish of St Fillan’s, Crieff with Canon Tom Shields, and will also shortly be appointed as part-time Chaplain to HMP Glenochil.

Deacon Malcolm Hutchison, will be ordained priest on Wednesday 6th July, 2022 at 7pm in St Andrew’s Cathedral. Following on his ordination, he returns to Rome for a final year of studies for the Licence in Patristic at the Augustinian Institute.
