Consecrated Life

Warm welcome for Dunkeld’s bishop-elect

Press release

On the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, at 1pm on Friday 2nd February, 2024, as priests and people from across the diocese gathered to mark the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life at St Andrew’s Cathedral, Nethergate, Dundee, so too did Dunkeld’s bishop-elect, Fr Martin Chambers. Diocesan administrator, Canon Kevin Golden and Bishop Emeritus Stephen Robson extended a warm welcome Fr Chambers whose appointment had been announced by the Holy Father just two hours earlier.

This Mass is available to watch on demand below.

The Mass begins with the Blessing of Candles and a Procession – both out of sight of the livestream camera which is set to afford privacy to the congregation. (With sufficient notice to the congregation this view can be changed).

(We apologise for the interrupted sound a moments during the record – this is due to interference from mobile devices within the sanctuary.)

Working in our diocese there members of the Congregation of St Theresa, Redemptorists, the Dominicans, the Franciscans, the Missionaries of St Paul, the Palatines, the Society of African Missions, the Salvatorians, the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sisters of Mercy – many of them took part in the procession at today’s Mass. We thank them for all that they do in our parishes, schools, prisons and in so many ways through their dedicated service to the Lord.
