Diocesan RE Team Changes

Press releases

Margaret MacFarlane has retired from her work as Dunkeld’s Diocesan RE Advisor (Secondary). Bishop Stephen recalled her working tirelessly efforts over so many years in the field of Catholic Education.

“Margaret taught in Lawside Academy and served as depute headteacher at St John’s High School in Dundee for over 30 years. Latterly, she has given many years of her best work as Diocesan RE Advisor, originally in Primary and Secondary religious education and then in secondary education alone. She has also diligently represented me as Church Representative on the Education Committee of Perth and Kinross Council.”

“Margaret has now asked to stand down from the role of Advisor in Secondary RE. I can only humbly offer her the greatest of thanks for her very long and gracious service. We wish her a long and happy retirement”

In her place, Bishop Stephen has now appointed Fr Samuel Alabi, as Advisor in Secondary Catechesis, to help Canon Tom Shields in the provisioning of Secondary level catechesis in Dunkeld’s Catholic schools. Fr Samuel is already Director of Youth Formation in the diocese.”

“We also congratulate Fr Samuel on his recent graduation, at Masters level in Catechesis, from the Franciscan University of Steubenville in the US.”

“Our Primary RE Advisor, Mary O’Duffin, continues to do great work. We are so grateful to have Mary’s invaluable support working in our Primary Schools and with parish catechists. As a co-author of ‘This is Our Faith’, Mary worked originally in Glasgow Archdiocese and now divides her time between both Dunkeld and Aberdeen dioceses. She has made great inroads into the primary sector and provides excellent guidance to our primary teachers and to our parish catechists.”
