John Stainer’s Crucifixion – Cecilian Choir
March 30 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join the Cecilian Choir at St Andrew’s RC Cathedral, Nethergate, Dundee on Monday 30th March, 7.00-8.30pm as they perform The Crucifixion, bringing this masterpiece to the Diocese of Dunkeld as it prepares for Easter.
Sir John Stainer’s The Crucifixion: A Meditation on the Sacred Passion of the Holy Redeemer is one of the most enduring and widely performed choral works in the English-speaking world.
Composed in 1887, it was designed as a liturgical tool for Passiontide, leading up to Easter. Its significance in Easter preparation lies in its function as a communal “meditation” rather than just a concert piece.
