Jeanne Jugan Association visit Dublin

Lay Associations

A large number of Association Jeanne Jugan of the Little Sisters of the Poor recently descended on the Holy Family Residence in Dublin for a day retreat led by Fr Michael Maher S.M.

Fr Michael is a Marist priest who has a passionate devotion to Our Lady, which was very evident during his talk when he explained in detail each of the apparitions by Our Lady at Fatima as well as the visitation of the Angel prior to these events. He also spoke about the third secret and emphasised how important it was for all of us to recite the rosary daily. After the talk there was a lovely meal served up by the kitchen team and volunteers in the home, which was appreciated by all.

We then had an opportunity for private prayer and reflection before the Blessed Sacrament where confession was also available. At the concluding Mass the 40 Associate members who were present renewed their promises for the following year in the presence of the Little Sisters from the various homes.

Those of us who travelled from Dundee and Glasgow were invited to extend our visit so we had the opportunity to explore Dublin and beyond as well as enjoying time with the residents and Sisters. On the Sunday a bus of Sisters, residents and associates travelled to Knock for the day where we had the opportunity time enjoy the quiet time as well as coming together for the main afternoon Mass in the basilica. The journey home was filled with a selection of Scottish and Irish songs, which were mainly sung by a young Indian Sister.
