Kilgraston Christmas Concert

Movie magic was truly in the air on Friday night when the Kilgraston girls took to the stage to perform to a sold-out Perth Concert Hall.

The concert opened this year with Headmistress, Mrs Dorothy MacGinty, giving her traditional welcome speech. Staff, families, friends and of course the girls were welcomed and told of how the famous Christmas Day Truce in the trenches was negotiable by Lt. Colonel Colin McLean, the great-great grandfather of Alix and Bridget Stewart-Blacker, two current Kilgraston girls.

Director of Music, Jason McAuley and Director of Drama, Lilla Scott ensured the girls were ready to showcase their musical and acting abilities. The audience watched as the girls performed scenes from many favourite Christmas films and were delighted to hear the junior and senior orchestras play modern and traditional pieces beautifully.

Audience members were encouraged to participate and everyone rose to sing traditional Christmas songs together.

The evening was rounded off by Mr McAuley leading the whole school choir and orchestra, in a rousing and inspiring version of the stirring Auld Lang Syne.

Once again, in their traditional tartan, Kilgraston girls rose to the occasion as actors, musicians and singers put on a performance that proudly displayed their talents and achievements and were whole-heartedly applauded by all.
