The Scottish Parliament is expected to debate and vote on the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill in the coming weeks.
Please find attached a pastoral letter from the Bishops of Scotland to be read and/or distributed at Masses this weekend 3rd/4th May.
Bishop John Keenan will lead a Rosary in prayer for our country to care not kill in St Augustine’s Parish Church, Coatbridge at 6pm (following 5pm Mass) on Sunday evening. All are welcome to attend in person or watch online (search ‘Being Catholic TV’ on YouTube). Please find attached a poster with more information about this event.
Please also find, below, a short entry for your bulletin along with a QR code for Care Not Killing’s online tool which allows people to easily contact their MSPs. I have also attached a copy of the QR code for completeness.
Finally, I include, below, a suggested bidding prayer for Mass this weekend.
I appreciate I have asked a lot of you and your parishioners over the last couple of years as we respond to this dangerous bill. We are now very close to a vote and need one big, final push to defeat it.
Suggested Bidding Prayer:
We pray for our parliamentarians, that they will vote to care and not to kill, so that our laws respect God’s gift of life and allow those vulnerable in our society to feel safe from the threat of death and harm.
Thank you for your continued support in this important matter.
Kind regards,
Anthony
