World Youth Day 2016

Press releases, Youth

World Youth Day Krakow, Poland
25th – 31st July 2016

What is it?

WYD is a celebration of Catholic youth, who gather from all over the world at the invitation of the Pope. WYD is open to all young people who want to take part in a festive encounter with other young Catholics centred on Jesus Christ. This event is an opportunity to experience firsthand the universality of the Church; to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who want to commit themselves to Christ and others.

Who is invited?

Previous World Youth Days have drawn literally millions of Young Catholics between 16 and 30. You could be one of millions!

What’s next?

Our diocese would like to organise a group of young people to travel to Krakow for WYD. The group will need to fundraise and spend a little time getting to know one another before we head out to Poland in 2016! The first step is to attend an information night in the hall at St. John the Baptist RC Church, Melville Street, Perth on Monday 8th December 2014 at 7.15pm. If you can’t make it then please contact Frankie McGuire to express your interest – don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity!

What does it cost?

Costs are dependent on the size of our final group, flight prices, and the availability of accommodation; a rough guess would put the cost somewhere in the region of £600. We hope that local parishes will support their young people and that our fundraising will bring down the final cost.

Want more information?

Come along to the information meeting at St John’s, Perth on Monday 8th December:

Hear from young people who have been to previous WYDs; meet others who are interested in going to Krakow; ask questions and, if you are still interested by the end of it, sign up!
