Young Dunkeld Pilgrims in Rome!

Youth

As part of the wider 2025 Jubilee events for “Pilgrims of Hope”, the Jubilee of Youth took place from 28th July to 3rd August.

This summer, four young pilgrims from Dunkeld – siblings Charis Soares, Arianne, Alisha, and Shane McCrosson – travelled from Cupar, Dundee and Auchterarder to join over 1 million Catholic young people from more than 146 countries, gathering in Rome to celebrate this event.

They were able to partake in a variety of events with highlights including walking through all four Holy Doors of Rome’s basilicas, joining open-air confessions with thousands at the Circus Maximus, and gathering with Pope Leo XIV for a powerful overnight vigil and Mass in the grounds of the University of Rome at Tor Vergata.

Charis shared: “When Pope Leo knelt before the Eucharist, a million young people knelt in silence together – it was truly incredible.”
Arianne reflected on the global Catholic community: “It reminded me I’m not alone in my faith.”
And Alisha was deeply moved: “Seeing so many young people so eager to receive the Body of Christ was unforgettable.”

A joyful, faith-filled witness from Dunkeld’s youth!
