Lady Rae has commissioned the recruitment agency Aspen People to manage a recruitment process that is open to anyone with the interest, experience and expertise that will shape the work of the new body which will be registered as a private company, limited by guarantee. Applications from people of all faith backgrounds and none will be considered.  

Launching the recruitment campaign, Lady Rae said, โ€œI will expect Board Directors to bring their own expertise and experience to the task of developing the Agencyโ€™s policies and procedures which will build on improvements made in recent years, in the light of various external reviews of safeguarding.  I would be happy to hear from anyone who has the time, the interest and the commitment to undertake this important work, regardless of their religious background.โ€ Lady Rae added, โ€œI wish to appoint Board Directors who will work with me to rebuild confidence and trust in the Churchโ€™s safeguarding practice, especially among those who have experienced abuse. 

These directors will assist me to appoint a Director of Safeguarding and a Head of Training who will work with others to ensure compliance with the highest standards of safeguarding.โ€
