As part of the wider 2025 Jubilee events for “Pilgrims of Hope”, the Jubilee of Youth took place from 28th July to 3rd August.
This summer, four young pilgrims from Dunkeld – siblings Charis Soares, Arianne, Alisha, and Shane McCrosson – travelled from Cupar, Dundee and Auchterarder to join over 1 million Catholic young people from more than 146 countries, gathering in Rome to celebrate this event.
They were able to partake in a variety of events with highlights including walking through all four Holy Doors of Rome’s basilicas, joining open-air confessions with thousands at the Circus Maximus, and gathering with Pope Leo XIV for a powerful overnight vigil and Mass in the grounds of the University of Rome at Tor Vergata.
Charis shared: “When Pope Leo knelt before the Eucharist, a million young people knelt in silence together – it was truly incredible.” Arianne reflected on the global Catholic community: “It reminded me I’m not alone in my faith.” And Alisha was deeply moved: “Seeing so many young people so eager to receive the Body of Christ was unforgettable.”
A joyful, faith-filled witness from Dunkeld’s youth!
