Translated from Latin into English, please read on for the letter sent from the Holy Father to Monsignor O’Sullivan on the 70th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.
We congratulate the Very Reverend Basil O’Sullivan, parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Auchterarder, who is celebrating the 70th anniversary of his priestly ordination, and who cares for the faithful of the community of Dunkeld with much zeal and diligence.
Exercising the office of teaching, he educates souls in the faith and love of Jesus, in keeping with the teaching of the Gospel and the Magisterium of the Church. We bear in mind, especially, his dedication to the victims and families of the Dunblane Massacre in March 1996.
Wherefore, because of these excellent qualities, we willingly impart to him, and to his relatives and parishioners, our Apostolic Blessing.
