Around the Parishes

Parish News

Monday 23rd March 2026.  Please read on for a selection of items from this week’s parish newsletters in the Diocese of Dunkeld, offering a snapshot of life around our diocese.

St. Columba, Kirkton

Spring into April with St Columba’s Afternoon Tea! It will take place on Tuesday 28th April 2026 2pm – 4pm in the Church Hall. Tickets are £5 each, which includes Prize Bingo, so we hope you will come along and join us on the day. Tickets will go on sale in both parishes this Sunday.

St. Mungo, Alloa, and St. Serf, High Valleyfield

Easter Treasure Hunt (plus tea & toast).  As part of our joyful Easter Sunday celebration, we are hosting a children’s treasure hunt after 9.30am Mass on Easter Sunday (5th April).  Of course, there will be tea and toast first to fuel them in their endeavours!  There will be treats for every child so come along!

St. Fergus, Forfar, and St. Anthony, Kirriemuir

Notes from the liturgical calendar: St Turibius of Mogrovejo (1538-1606). Was born near Valladolid, Spain. He was appointed Archbishop of Lima, Peru, by King Philip the Second in 1579. He was assiduous in catechizing and confirming, it is said, half a million people, among whom were St. Martin de Porres and Saint Rose of Lima.  The Annunciation of Our Lord. The Annunciation by the Archangel Gabriel of the imminent arrival of the long-awaited Messiah, born to the humble Virgin of Nazareth, shows us the faith of Our Blessed Lady. Unsure of what was really involved, she nonetheless agreed to God’s plan.

St. Bride, Monifieth

St Bride’s Parish Council invite you into the Parish Hall after the Long Reading of the Passion of Jesus on Palma Sunday morning Mass for a bowl of some and some bread, as Palm Sunday is a long Mass.  This kind gesture is to help you (and the children) as you make your way back home. All are welcome.

St. Anne, Carnoustie

St. Anne’s 100 Club needs more members, please. It is a fundraising venture which ensure funds are available to buy what the Parish needs. It costs £26 a year and there are regular cash prizes. Please see Maggie Smyth in the Porch of the church. Take a look at the beautiful hard-wearing surface in our Hall, financed by the 100Club Funds.

St. Margaret, Comrie, and St. Fillan, Crieff

As there is no Repository in either of our churches at present, where parishioners, visitors and friends could select and buy pious articles, I am pleased to inform you that there is a selection of Easter cards, First Holy Communion and Confirmation cards available this weekend in St Fillan’s Church Porch. Could anyone who would like to volunteer to start a Repository, please speak to Fr. Tobias.

St. Mary, Lochee

March of Witness on Good Friday (beginning at approximately 10.30am at St. Mary’s).  Churches in Lochee will gather outside St. Mary’s around 10.30am and then proceed together down the High Street to Lochee Church. All most welcome to join in this Ecumenical Event taking place in the parishes in Lochee.
