Bishop Emeritus, Stephen Robson was born at Carlisle, 1st April 1951; educated at Caldey Grange School, Wirral; Carlisle and Lanark Grammar Schools; Edinburgh University (BSc, 1974; MTh, 1988); St Andrew’s College, Drygrange. Ordained priest, Our Lady & St Joseph’s, Carlisle, 17th March, 1979, by Cardinal Gordon Joseph Gray for the Archdiocese of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh.
Bishop Emeritus Robson served in parishes in Kirkcaldy, Edinburgh, Duns and Eyemouth, Dunbar, East Calder, North Berwick and Broxburn; Form Teacher, St Mary’s College, Blairs (1981-86); Episcopal Vicar for Education 1991-1998; spiritual director, Pontifical Scots College, Rome 1998-2006; STL, Pontifical Gregorian University Rome, 2000; STD, Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, 2003; JCL, Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, 2006; Chancellor 2007– 2013; Vicar General, 2012-2013. Nominated titular bishop of Tunnuna and Auxiliary Bishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh, 8th May 2012; ordained Bishop, 9th June 2012.
He was appointed Bishop of Dunkeld by Pope Francis on 11th December 2013; Installed at St Andrew’s Cathedral, Dundee, as 9th Bishop of Dunkeld, 9th January 2014. He resigned through ill health on 28th December 2022.
