Canon Kevin Golden is elected as Diocesan Administrator

On 2nd January 2023, in accordance with the canons of the Code of Canon Law 1983) relating to the provision of a diocesan Administrator, the College of Consultors of the Diocese of Dunkeld gathered at the Diocesan Curial Offices for the process of the Election of a Diocesan Administrator.

The Very Rev Canon Kevin James Golden MPS, currently Parish priest of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Our Lady of Victories and Administrator of the Cathedral in Dundee, was elected. Canon Kevin is also a Trustee of the Diocese and has held the post of Vicar General for the past four years. 

Canon Kevin Golden was born in Dundee to devout Catholic Parents on 13th May 1966. After Catholic primary School, Kevin prepared for entry into senior seminary through admission to St Mary’s College Blairs, Aberdeen, the National Junior Seminary from 1978-1984.

He then entered the Senior Seminary of the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh 1984-1990, and he was ordained priest in Dundee on 23rd November 1990 by Bishop Vincent Logan.

Subsequently Bishop Stephen Robson appointed him to be Vicar General and, later, he became a member of the Chapter of Canons in St Andrew’s Cathedral in 2021. 

Canon Kevin was awarded the degree of Master of Pastoral Studies (MPS) from Loyola Jesuit University in New Orleans in 1998.
