It was absolutely an amazing night in the Blairgowrie Town Hall on Monday 26th of September when over 300 people were entertained by the Cecilian Choir. The choir is no stranger to Blairgowrie, indeed, when it was first formed over 50 years ago, Blairgowrie was chosen for its second ever concert.

They were invited again to Blairgowrie by St Stephen’s Parish as part of the activities slatted to support the fund raising efforts to renovate the church.

In his vote of thanks, parish Priest Fr Gregory Umunna said, “It was night to remember! Music was amazing, breath-taking and phenomenal. It is hummable and tap-able. Thank you for the stories you tell and the values you promote through music. Thank you for bringing us to celebrate our common cultural heritage through Scottish and country music.”

He made clear that the event would not have been this successful if not for the thoughtfulness, generosity and sacrifice of some parishioners who have worked very hard to produce it. Jim Graham has been outstanding in this respect and thanks also to Roddy MacDonald, Marion Duffy, Mary O’Brien, Roy Sweeney, Margaret Young, Mike Coyle, Gordon Kendal and all the ladies who tonight, have diligently and gracefully served us.

Finally, he expressed his appreciations to the co-sponsors: Tesco, Sainsbury, Co-op and David Scots Funeral Directors and company; John McKinley Perth (for the printing jobs), Miguel Torres, Inverarity Morton Wines and Spirits, Norma Guilanotti Perth and Union of Catholic Mothers Perth for sponsoring all the drinks.

To parishioners and friends gathered for the occasion from Blairgowrie, Alyth, Coupar Angus, Perth, Dundee, Fife, Pitlochry, Forfar, Kirriemuir and from Fife.
