Bishop Andrew McKenzie joined Fr Andrew Marshall and parishioners at St Thomas’, Arbroath, on Sunday 2nd February, for a Pastoral visit.

St Thomas’ RC Church in Arbroath warmly welcomed the newly appointed Bishop during his pastoral visit on the Feast of Candlemas. Greeted by parish priest Fr Andrew Marshall and Deacon Arthur Grant, the Bishop was met with great joy and enthusiasm by the entire parish community.
The visit coincided with the celebration of Candlemas, a feast that marks the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple and the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary. During the Mass, the Bishop delivered a thought-provoking homily on the significance of the occasion, reflecting on Christ as the light of the world and the call for all believers to carry that light in their daily lives.
Following the Mass, parishioners had the opportunity to personally meet the Bishop in a warm and informal setting. Many expressed their appreciation for his visit and took the opportunity to share their hopes and aspirations for the parish and the wider diocese.
Fr Andrew Marshall spoke of the importance of such visits in strengthening the bonds between the Bishop and the faithful, saying, “It was a blessing to welcome the Bishop to St Thomas’. His words of encouragement and guidance were deeply valued by all.”
The visit marked a significant moment for the parish as it embraced the leadership of the newly appointed Bishop, who has taken on the responsibility of shepherding the diocese with faith and dedication. His presence and message left a lasting impression, reinforcing the unity and devotion of the parish community.
