Guest speaker Sr Deirdre O’Brien RSCJ astounded an audience of Catenians with her tales of fourteen years working in China.

Having retired from a lifetime of service to Catholic Education in 1988, latterly as Vice-Principal at Craiglockhart College of Education in Edinburgh, Sr Deirdre travelled to China where she worked with Voluntary Service Overseas, teaching English to Chinese medical students. During her years in China she became increasingly aware of the work of the Catholic Church in the country.

Before returning to Scotland, Sr Deirdre spend a further 8 years working in Vietnam.
