Celebrations to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Mgr Charles Hendry (St Mary Magdalene’s, Perth) continue to be held throughout St Fillan’s Deanery in Dunkeld Diocese. St Bride’s parishioners in Pitlochry wanted to show their respect for Mgr Hendry who is often to be found as working as a supply priest in the highland town. Fr Tobias, parish priest at St Bride’s, also welcomed his neighbouring priests, Fr Gregory (St Stephen’s, Blairgowrie) and Fr Samuel (St Fillan’s, Newport), as he adorned his guest with traditional Nigerian priestly vestments. as a mark of respect, describing him as a “Melchizedek” – “a priest for ever”. Fr Tobias paid special tribute to the personal support and inspiration he had received from Mgr Hendry since coming to Scotland.
