Tuesday 5th May 2026.  Please read on for a selection of items from this week’s parish newsletters in the Diocese of Dunkeld, offering a snapshot of life around our diocese.

Synodal Event

Saturday 9th May 2026 at The Pastoral Centre, St Mary’s Forebank Hall: 10.00am prompt until 1.45pm. Austen Ivereigh presents live online the topic ‘Missionary disciples in a synodal Church: the future of faith in these Islands” How does the Church thrive in an age where it is no longer supported by culture? The event will open with prayer followed by a short presentation by Maureen Ruddy: Synodality: Our journey so far. Please note that lunch is not provided, therefore attendees may wish to bring their own snacks.

St. Mary, Lochee

The Speh Wha came in fae the Caldrum Street…a new play by Gerry Fulton and The St. Mary’s/St. Patrick’s Players. A big ’thank you’ to everyone who has bought a ticket. Both nights are now sold out. The cast are looking forward to seeing you all not far fae Caldrum Street!

The next Vocations Mass (7pm) and Holy Hour (6pm), to pray for our priests and for an increase of priestly and religious vocations is on Tuesday 12th May in the Immaculate Conception, Lochee. Everyone is invited.

St. Columba, Dundee

Prize Bingo Night: There will be a prize bingo in St Columba’s Church Hall at 7pm on Saturday 9th of May. Tea & coffee will be served but otherwise BYOB. Tickets, which are £5, will be at the back of both Churches this weekend. All monies raised will go to the Lourdes Pilgrimage Nurses Fund.

St. Ninian, Dundee

There will be an African Mass held in St Ninian’s RC Church, Dickson Avenue DD2 4DA on the 10th of May 2026 at 3.30pm.  All friends and lovers of Africa are welcome!

SS. Leonard & Fergus, Dundee

Family Mass: our annual Family Mass will be on the Pentecost Sunday, 24th May in SS L&F. We are going to have only one Mass that weekend at 10.30am. There will be no 11.30 Mass at St Columba’s, no 6pm Vigil Mass nor 10am Sunday Mass at SS L&F. As usual, everybody goes to the hall after the Mass for fellowship and socialisation. We will be happy to have hymns in different languages: please, if any cultural group would like to sing any of the Mass hymns, the group can let me know. Anyone who would like to appear in a cultural outfit, is encouraged to do so.

St. Fillan, Crieff

Confirmation Mass: the Bishop will celebrate the Mass on Thursday 7th May at 6.00pm to confirm the children that have been prepared in our St. Dominic’s Primary School. All are invited to attend and please, pray for the candidates. Thank you.

St. John the Baptist, Perth

UCM Meeting: an evening with Our Lady, 5th May 2026, at 7.30pm. There will be tea in the hall after the prayers.

St. Fergus, Forfar and St. Anthony, Kirriemuir

Next Parish Pastoral Council meeting: this will be held on May 19th at 7.00pm at St Anthony’s, Kirriemuir.

St. Mungo, Alloa and St. Serf, High Valleyfield

St Serf’s Spring Concert: There will be a Spring Concert with afternoon tea at St Serf’s Hall, High Valleyfield, on Sunday 17th May, at 2.00pm, featuring the wonderful country and western band ‘Walk Don’t Run’. Tickets are £4 each and will be on sale after Mass at St Serf’s. A raffle will also be held.”

Fr Michael Resumes: we are pleased to inform parishioners that Fr. Michael will resume the parish on 14th of May.  Thank you for your continued prayers, support and understanding.

Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Auchterarder

Our Lady’s has a commitment to provide a Care Home Service for the residents of Ruthven Towers on Sunday 10th May at 2.30pm. Please come along and lend your voice to the singing, if you can.

We continue to support Fr Garry Jenkins in his Liberian Mission. Last Friday, donations made over the past two months were deposited with the SMA Office in Dunblane – thank you for your generosity.
